Kuantan is the state capital of Pahang, the third largest state in Malaysia. It is near the mouth of the Kuantan River and faces the South China Sea, if one measures the distance along the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia.
Taman Negara National Park is the perfect place for travelers who love wild life viewing, jungle trekking, hiking, rock climbing, fishing, camping and many more. It is well established as one of the most popular ecotourism in Malaysia. It has a tropical, humid climate with temperatures averaging 86°F (30°C). It is opened throughout the year.
It’s a beach life at Teluk Chempedak Beach, located only five kilometres from Kuantan town. Go for swim, take to the sails, surf the waves or just while away the hours on the promenade with a purpose built local food court, an international fast food outlet.
Lake Chini is blessed with vast treasures of nature, which is rich in biological resources. There are 138 species of territorial flora, 300 species of non-aquatic vertebrates and 144 species of freshwater fish. Thousand of white and pink water lilies will emerge on the, transforming the lake into a floating multi-colored garden.
This Waterfall or waterfalls were admired by the many that had seen them. Very natural settings and beautifully carved out falls. As it is located in a sparsely populated locality, it is difficult to identify any landmark for those who have not being there to make entry to the waterfall area.
But most of all, if you want a really cool eco experience, book a mangrove river cruise, or better still, a night tour to watch and to be-dazzled by the twinkling of hundreds of fireflies along the riverbanks.
Batu Hitam is a beach located about 10 km from Kuantan. It is called Batu Hitam for its stretch of black stones at the otherwise white sandy beach. That’s the reason for its name “Batu Hitam” in Malay means “Black Stones” as the black sand glitters under the blazing sun washed by the waves of the South China Sea.
This traditional boat museum across the street from the state museum has an outdoor walk through exhibit of refreshingly well curate and maintained, restored traditional boats, hand-painted and well described a very authentic traditional museum experience.
The Sungai Lembing Museum was built to re-live the glorious days of Sungai Lembing as Pahang’s richest manufacturer of tin. There also got ‘Jambatan Gantung’ means hanging bridge and it is used by the local to walk and you can even ride a motobike on this bridge. It was built and administered by Department of Malaysian Museums.
