Perth has a laidback and easygoing city vibe, but with lots of big-city attractions. Hop on a ferry to Rottnest Island to see the famous quokkas. Make sure to take a quokka selfie as these animals are known to be the happiest animals in the world. Be sure to check out Kings Park with beautiful wineries and stunning beaches where you can even swim with wild dolphins.

Immerse yourself in Fremantle and taste the seafood along the fishing boat harbor. This city is the best preserved example of a 19th century port streetscape. Take on the convict walking trail through Pensioner’s Barracks and Essex Street. Or experience life before the European settlement along the Manjaree Heritage Trail.

HIGHLIGHTS

Margaret River

This is one of Australia’s renowned food and wine regions such as the Leeuwin Estate, Xanadu Wines and Voyager Estate. Each of them offer a wide range of fine food and wine tasting. Catch a glimpse of migrating whales from Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse or go swimming, fishing and surfing in Yallingup.

Kings Park Botanic Garden

This is one of the largest inner city parks in the world. Perched on top of Mount Eliza, this garden is a fantastic destination for a panoramic view of the city skyline and Swan River. Have a relaxing picnic or barbeque or climb the 101 steps of the spiraling DNA tower for a spectacular view.

Cottesloe Beach

This is one of the local’s favorite beaches for swimming, snorkeling, surfing and watching the sun set over the Indian Ocean. Be sure to look out for The Pylon, a large, concrete bell-shaped object that was originally built to attach shark nets. Since it no longer in use, people like to climb up and use it to jump into the ocean.
