Visit Kathmandu and explore Buddhist temples such as Swayambhu (Monkey Temple) that overlooks the city, Buddha Neelkanth Temple and the Garden of Dreams (Kaiser Mahal). Kathmandu Durbar Square is a must-visit as it is surrounded by temples and palaces. Go for a hike in the Kathmandu Valley or plan your visit to coincide with the annual Festival of Lights, Teej Festival, Himalayan Blues Festival and many more.

Pokhara is famous for its majestic lakes and waterfalls which include Fewa Lake, Begnas Lake, Dipang Lake and Devi’s Fall. Visitors can take part in various outdoor activities such as hiking, caving, trekking, boating, canoeing, and whitewater rafting. Be sure to visit the World Peace Pagoda, International Mountain Museum and Gurkha Memorial Museum.

In Sarangkot, visitors will get to see a panoramic view of the Himalayan Mountains. Plan to come out at dusk and dawn to see the sun rise, turning the mountains from purple and pink to a celestial gold. Another incredible view is from Ancient Kot and the ruined fort at Kaskikot which is an hour away from the city by foot.

Phewa Lake

This is one of the largest lakes in the Pokhara Valley where visitors can take in the fantastic view of Mount Machhapuchhre and the Annapurna Range. Go for a boat ride on the lake, shop at the stores selling various handicrafts or dine along the eastern shore of Baidam.

Bhaktapur Durbar Square

This is a plaza in front of the Royal Palace of the old Bhaktapur Kingdom which served as the seat of royalty prior to 1769. Visit the National Art Gallery with Buddhist Puabha scroll paintings, palm leaf manuscripts and stone weavings. Be sure to check out the Big Bell, Yaksheswor Mahadev Temple and Chyasin Mandap.

Swayambhunath Stupa

On top of the western edge of Kathmandu Valley is the Swayambhunath Temple or Monkey Temple. Climb up the 365 steps of Syambunath Hill to see Buddha statues, Boudhanath stupa, and other temples including Changu Narayan, Dakshinkali and Budhanilkantha.
