The name Sorak means ‘a high mountain covered in snow’ as it starts to snow during Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving holiday) and melts in summer. It is the third highest mountain at 1,708 meters above sea level.

Be sure to visit Seongsan Ilchulbong, also known as Sunrise Peak, which is a popular destination to catch the sun rise. Famous for its beautiful tree lined roads, theme parks and camping sites, this small crescent shaped island is a must-visit to get away from the bustling city of Seoul. It is a popular destination for the Korean drama, Winter Sonata which was filmed here in 2002. A unique feature of this island is that there are no telephone poles. The electric wires are built underground to maintain the natural landscape.
Get in touch with your inner child and find out everything you want to know about teddy bears. The Teddy Bear was named after America’s 26th President, Theodore Roosevelt, whose nickname was Teddy. Explore each exhibit in the museum as they each have their own theme and story. This 2,000 kilometer long fortress is perched on a steep mountain at an elevation of 800 meters high. It is believed to have been named after two generals, Kwon and Gum, who built it to prepare for a war during the Shilla period. Visitors will get a breathtaking view of the East Sea and outer Sorak from the top.
